On February 17, 2025, Professor Sun Zhicheng from Beijing Institute of Graphic Communication led a research team to visit Marabu (Shanghai) Ink Co., Ltd. for a technical exchange. Alex, General Manager of Marabu Asia; Marc, Senior Technical Manager; Bob, R&D Director; and Gwendoline, Sales and Marketing Director, attended the meeting. The two parties engaged in in-depth discussions on cutting-edge technologies and applications of functional inks, pastes, and coatings, and toured Marabu’s laboratory and printing center.
During the exchange, Professor Sun Zhicheng delivered a presentation titled Functional Inks, Pastes, and Coatings: Application and Innovation, systematically introducing the team's research achievements in foam inks, temperature-sensitive inks, fluorescent inks, electroluminescent devices, printed photovoltaic cells, and eco-friendly anti-fouling coatings. The innovative results, such as the three-dimensional printing process of foam inks, the intelligent response characteristics of temperature-sensitive inks, and the anti-counterfeiting potential of fluorescent inks, drew significant attention and discussion from the Marabu team.
The Marabu team expressed admiration for Beijing Institute of Graphic Communication’s research capabilities in functional materials, particularly focusing on the microcapsule technology of foam inks, the microencapsulation process of temperature-sensitive inks, and the anti-counterfeiting applications of fluorescent inks. After the meeting, the Marabu team accompanied Professor Sun Zhicheng and his team on a tour of the company’s laboratory and printing center. Both parties exchanged views on market demand for technology commercialization. The Marabu team stated that this exchange provided new ideas for the company’s ink product development and expressed their intention to explore new technologies actively. This could lead to the development of more competitive innovative products in areas such as smart packaging and green printing.
